Wellington B.III, BK360, of 150 Squadron, RAF, had left its base RAF Kirmington at 10.40 hrs on 31 October, 1942, for a bombing mission to Emden, Germany. On the flight home, the bomber crashed at 13.15 hrs near the hamlet of De Pol, approximately 5 kilometres to the North-West of Steenwijk, Overijssel. There were no survivors. The crew, of which F/S Makay, RCAF, was the captain, was buried here in Willemsoord:
